Melbourne Trip details
For those who want to know why I was in Melbourne and what I did! I arrived on Monday 24th in Melbourne with my hubby who was going to work there for 3 days.
Donna kindly picked me up from the airport and we drove to see Berrie in Donnas flash little yellow/gold car. Had a great day chatting and laughing. Donna drove me back to my Motel that evening. No Donna I wont say we got lost and ended up looking at the industrial bits of Melbourne city hehehe!
I found a pub that served great food 100mtrs down the road from our Motel so we decided to eat there for the 3 nights so we didn't have to negotiate the traffic for food. Fabulous food I might add (portion control went out the window)!
Tuesday I went to Bridge Rd Richmond and shopped til I dropped - spent way too much but got some great bargains (and some not so, hehehe)! Wednesday, went back to Bridge Rd to finish off what I didn't have the energy to do the day before!
Thursday, hubby still had some finishing off to do at the place he was working so he went off there and I transferred our bags (via cab) to the "posh" hotel in town where we were to spend the next 2 nights. Dumped bags and booked in (check in not til 2pm) and went off to QV Markets - wow were they great or what! Spent a bit more, then got seriously worried with all the new stuff our bags wouldn't make it home in one piece! Met hubby and we went to hotel to check in. Were given our room card, got in and seriously there wasn't much room in it for 2 medium sized bags and 2 adults - one bed, desk, one easy chair.....mmm hubby not happy so went to reception and was given a suite for $20 more a night - THAT'S MORE LIKE IT!
Suite was great and our bags fitted in nicely! Went out with a friend for dinner to a lovely Italian Restaurant in St Kilda - I ate dessert!
Friday morning, got up late, had full buffet breakfast and then we hit Federation Square for a bit of site seeing and culture. We did the art galleries there and then headed off to The National Gallery to see the Picasso exhibition. That was absolutely amazing, so I recommend if you are in Melbourne before it closes to go have a loook, but you need a few hours to do so.
By the time we got out of there we were well and truly stuffed so decided to go straight back to Hotel and have a night in. Ate in the Hotel Restaurant, I had duck risotto and it was to die for.Went to bed early as we had to be up and leave the hotel by 9 on Saturday for our flight home. Got up Saturday morning and had buffet breakfast then took some quick photos of the suite (sorry its messy) and our extremely fat suitcases. I can really say I had a fabulous time and really enjoyed catching up with Donna and Berrie. Melbourne weather behaved its self for us the whole week we were there! I can wait to go back!
